Opening Ceremony - 25 November 2016

The Boys’ Brigade Share-a-Gift 2016 was officially launched on 25 November 2016 at Yuhua Village Market where our Main Box is situated.  It is our privilege to have Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, to grace the occasion and inaugurate the opening of the Main Box to the general public for their donations.  She was joined by Dr Ho Yew Kee (Brigade President), Mr Wilf Blackburn (CEO of Prudential Singapore), Mr Lui Chong Chee (Chairman of BBSG 2016 Organising Committee), and Mr Gerry Lee (Deputy CEO, Operations of NTUC FairPrice Co-operative Limited). Mr Lui Chong Chee gave an opening address to the audience consisting of sponsors, officials, parents and Boys from 28J and 28th Singapore Companies and the elderly from Yuhua Neighbourhood Link.  Mr Lui said “This year, the BBSG project aims to encourage more families to volunteer together with their children.  It is an opportunity for them to try their hand at charity work, and to learn the value of giving back to the less fortunate.”  In Ms Grace Fu’s address, she encouraged Singaporeans to rally support and donate generously to help achieve this year’s target of providing for 38,317 beneficiaries.

As part of the launch, NTUC FairPrice Co-operative Limited has generously fulfilled 51 elderly wishes from Yuhua Neighbourhood Link, a senior activity centre. Ms Grace Fu presented the wishes to the elderly together with the parents and Boys from 28J and 28th Singapore Companies.

Tokens of appreciation were also presented to our sponsors and officials for their invaluable contributions and support to The Boys’ Brigade Share-a-Gift 2016 project.

We look forward to bringing joy to 38,317 beneficiaries this year, along with the generous support from the public. For more information on how to be involved, you can visit our “Public Involvement” page for details.
