Closing Ceremony - 18 December 2017

On 18 December 2017, The Boys’ Brigade Share-a-Gift (BBSG) 2017 drew to a close with 100% of its general and specific wishes achieved. Volunteers from NTUC FairPrice Co-operative, families of BB Boys and BB Alumni and beneficiaries from Yuhua Senior Activity Centre were invited for a special afternoon at Warehouse Club in Joo Koon for the Closing Ceremony. Continuing BBSG’s focus on involving parents and children in meaningful activities, 14 BB members and their families came together to accompany beneficiaries to shop for essential items. Each beneficiary from Yuhua Senior Activity Centre was given $50 voucher by NTUC FairPrice for their shopping.

For the first time in 30 years, The Boys’ Brigade achieved 100% of its general wishes targets a week early. Mr Lui Chong Chee, Chairman of BBSG 2017, extended his thanks during his address to sponsors, partners, corporations, media and friends, and members of the public for the generous support and rallying family and friends to help out following our appeals for contributions.

During the ceremony, the BBSG pledge boards located at 12 participating FairPrice stores were pieced together and unveiled by Mr Seah Kian Peng (CEO of NTUC FairPrice Co-operative and Director of NTUC FairPrice Foundation), Mr Lum Hon Fye (General Manager of NTUC FairPrice Foundation), Mr Poh Leong Berg (Brigade President) and Mr Lui Chong Chee. NTUC FairPrice Foundation donated a total of $75,000 towards the project for stickers pasted by members of the public on the Pledge Boards. Organised for the 30th year, The Boys’ Brigade Share-a-Gift project has successfully gained loyal supporters to fulfil the wishes of 42,296 beneficiaries in Singapore during the festive season of Christmas!
